Alberta College of Art + Design offers a range of residency opportunities encouraging students, emerging artists, and practicing artists the time and space to explore and research art, craft and design. We aim to foster relationships within ACAD and throughout the greater Calgary arts community, building on past programs and develop new ones.

Thematic Summer Residency is Materiality

Application Deadline: Applications are open until residency positions are filled.

ACAD is looking to select between 20 to 30 residents for its Thematic Summer Residency.

Residents will have an assigned home studio space and limited access to production studios (woodshop and metal casting studio) and technical support. The residents will, in addition to developing their independent studio work and research, have access to a number of scholars and visiting artists through talks, panels, and studio visits. The Summer Residency is inclusive of diverse practices that may be defined as art, design, craft, and text-based, and not limited to just these.

Location: ACAD (1407 14th Ave. SE)
Fees: $1,100 for an 11-Week Residency or $1,400 for a 14-Week Residency
