T.G.I.Form Friday and Surface Saturday

Join us for this special weekend with Maggie Boyd for her last workshop in Canada before moving to New York City!  Maggie has taught “a series of popular ceramic classes, which have garnered a cult status in Vancouver amounting to a badge of honour for the city’s hip artistic types.” — Montecristo Magazine

During this two day workshop, we will talk about throwing, altering, and surface treatment for our greenware pieces. On Friday night we will explore the forms we make and how to tweak them to accentuate the surfaces we finish them with. We will also look at the bananas possibilities of throwing pieces with multiple parts and assembling them. The world of form will be our oyster. On Saturday, we will look at finishing and the multiple possibilities for surface treatment including carving, slip inlay, underglazes, and drawing techniques. Fun alert.

Maggie Boyd is a ceramic artist who likes to turn pots into surfaces for drawing. She has been working with clay for over fifteen years and is based in Vancouver and New York. Follow her on Instagram.
