Audition Information

Downstage is holding auditions on Tuesday, December 18, 2018, for our work-in-progress presentation of The Temporary directed by Mieko Ouchi. Rehearsals and performances will be located in Brooks and Calgary from June 25 to July 21, 2019. The Temporary is a docudrama by Col Cseke exploring the lives of Temporary Foreign Workers in Brooks Alberta, and what this small prairie city’s massive demographic change can tell us about Canada today.

Role Requirements

  • Ronaldo and others – Male, new Canadian person of colour, 20s – 40s
  • Linda and others – Female, white, long time Brooks resident, 40s+
  • Althea and others – Female, new Canadian person of colour, 20s – 30s

Please Note: The Temporary is a verbatim text play. Each actor will portray multiple real-life people of various ages, genders, and ethnicities.

Identify in the body of the email if you are Equity or Non-Equity. All Equity Members will be seen first for this audition. Downstage works within Canadian Actors’ Equity Independent Theatre Policy. Please list your availability on December 18, so that we can schedule accordingly. Sides from the play will be provided at the time that your audition is booked. All auditions are by appointment only.
