THIRD ACTion Film Festival is a non-profit organization that premieres its film festival and talks celebrating ageing and older adults in Calgary. Its inaugural festival will take place on June 8 to 10, 2018 at the Glenbow Theatre.

Pre-Festival: Friday, May 11, 2018, 2:00 – 7:00pm

We need bartenders, ushers and registration table volunteers for this event.

Pre-Festival Volunteer Orientation takes place at 2:00pm at the venue, prior to setup for the event.

The volunteer orientation is key to ensure that your volunteer experience is an amazing experience. Because if you are having fun… so will our guests!

Festival Positions:

  • Venue Chief (shared with Executive Director):
    • Oversee the smooth operation of the screening venue.
    • Provide a positive, friendly atmosphere for guests.
    • Assist with the introduction of films and filmmakers/screening sponsors, if applicable.
    • Check-in and organize ushers and ticket takers at the venue.
    • Noise management.
  • Usher/Ticket Taker:
    • Take tickets and count attendance.
    • Assist guests to seats.
    • Help with ticket sales.
    • Straighten and tidy up the area after each event.
    • Hand out and collect festival film ballots.
  • Registration/Box Office Desk:
    • Greet and assist in directing guests.
    • Sell tickets.
    • Sell festival programs and answer questions.
    • Handle “Will-Call” tickets.
  • Event Crew:
    • Set up and take down equipment and materials.
    • Lift and transport heavy supplies to the venue.
    • Assist with setup, decoration, production and teardown of festival and sponsor activations.
  • Resource Table:
    • Ensure table remains stocked with material throughout the festival.
    • Answer questions about festival and resources.
    • Knowledge of seniors industry and not-for-profits an asset.
  • THIRD ACTion Street Team:
    • Promote festival to Calgary locals and tourists on Stephen Avenue during the festival.
    • You are outgoing, fun and friendly.
  • Food & Beverage Sales:
    • Sell popcorn, pop and water to guests.
    • Set up, straighten, and clean up after the event.
  • Bartender Servers: 
    • Sell drink tickets or serve at the bar.
  • Photographers: 
    • Take pictures of volunteers and patrons during the festival and special events.
    • You have a smartphone or camera and enjoy interacting with people.
  • Videographers:
    • Take videos during the festival of volunteers, speakers and patrons.
    • You have a smartphone or video equipment and enjoy interacting with people.
