Reports directly to the Ticket Office Manager. Full training to be provided.

Hours: Full-time 40-hour work-week Monday to Friday, with some evenings and weekends required.
Compensation: $33,000 – 35,000 based on experience

Benefit Plan expense co-share between employer/employee, three-month probation period.

Vertigo Theatre is looking for an individual that possesses excellent customer service, sales, inter-personal, time management, administrative and data management skills. In addition, the successful candidate will be comfortable working flexible shifts and have a professional phone demeanor.

About Vertigo Theatre

Vertigo Theatre has entertained audiences for over 41 years with high quality programming, evolving into a truly unique organization. We are located at the base of the Calgary Tower, which is home to our administration and ticket offices as well as our two performance venues. We program the BD&P Mystery Theatre Series and are also home to a variety of arts organizations that rent our performance venues throughout the regular theatre season. Our diverse audience includes young adults to urban professionals and seniors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Ticket Office Management:

  • Maintain a high quality of work, achieving the attention to detail with respect to consistency, accuracy and time lines that the position requires.
  • Answer questions regarding programming.
  • Process ticket orders and exchanges, allocate seats, ensure contact information is recorded.
  • Authorize credit/debit card payments.
  • Ensure tickets, float and ticket sales revenue are secure during shifts.
  • Report customer complaints to Ticket Office Manager.
  • Return messages in a timely fashion.
  • Provide a point of security for all persons entering and leaving the theatres and lobby through the main venue doors.
  • Work toward setting and achieving established goals.
  • Compliance with ticket office policies and procedures.

Sales Campaigns:

  • Assist with all mail campaigns.
  • Participate in all telemarketing campaigns.

Signage and Displays:

  • Assist with changing exterior poster boxes
  • Check foyer and other brochure/postcard displays onsite for refill and cleanliness.

Other tasks as delegated by the Ticket Office Manager or Marketing & Communications Manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Theatre Manager or other ticketing systems is considered a major asset.
  • Exceptional customer service and outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn a new ticketing system.
  • Cash handling and credit card and debit processing experience.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment which requires multitasking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Superior organizational skills with respect to time management.
  • Professional attire is required (as confirmed in consultation with the Ticket Office Manager).
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
