Visual Art Programming

Sled Island seeks two individuals for the position of Visual Art Programming Intern.

Internship Dates:

  • Late March – May 2017 (position #1)
  • May – late June 2017 (position #2)

Position Description

Sled Island’s Programming Intern works directly with the festival’s Visual Art Curator and has a working relationship with artists and community partners. Providing assistance with the administration and presentation of visual art programs for Sled Island 2017, the Visual Art Programming Intern will assist with the coordination and administration of projects, installation and strike, and will communicate with artists, gallery visitors and partner organizations.

A $1,000 honorarium will be provided by the Serving Communities Internship Program (SCIP).

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in and knowledge of contemporary art, art history and Calgary’s arts and culture sector.
  • Basic knowledge of power tools and painting.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with Sled Island.
  • Some relevant post-secondary training is an asset.
