Archived March 5, 2018 Wheel Throwing Level 2 Start Date: March 11, 2018, 10:00am – 12:00pm Duration: Six-weeks, every Sunday Instructor: Greg McRitchie Price: $295 Location: Workshop Studios (2501 Alyth Rd. SE) Feel like you’ve gotten comfortable centring clay? Comfortable throwing cylinders and bowls? This class will hone your skills in centring, get you more height out of each pull, and teach you how to manipulate thrown clay through collaring or stretching. You will be pushed to throw larger forms and learn techniques for throwing plates, lids, and more. Greg McRitchie has been creating pottery through his studio, Mudslide Stoneware, in Airdrie since 1981. Greg teaches and is known for high-quality functional stoneware and porcelain including dinnerware and accent pieces. He has extensive knowledge in all areas of ceramics including glaze science, multiple firing techniques, wheel throwing and hand-building. Class includes one bag of clay, glazing and firing and 12 free practice hours. Additional work beyond the expected scope of the class is subject to additional firing fees. Practice hours are one hour before and one hour after class. Students may stay beyond the allotted 1h after class provided members don’t need the facility (we’re easy going). Workshop is an open-access facility that houses creative studios and a ceramics facility. We offer individual studios, memberships to our ceramic studio as well as ceramic classes, workshops and events. We occupy two bays in the historic Northwestern Brass Foundry building in Inglewood.
