Archived April 9, 2018 Digital Content Manager Summer Student Deadline for Applications: April 23, 2018 This position provides an excellent opportunity for a data-savvy student with a keen interest in arts and culture, looking to apply their skills in data and digital content management. The successful candidate must be flexible, proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. Who Should Apply? Due to public funding criteria established for this opportunity, this position is available only to students returning to school in the fall semester and who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. Applicant must be a full-time student during the 2017/18 academic year and must intend to return to school on a full-time basis in 2018/19. Please also note that this position is contingent upon funding. Responsibilities Working directly with the Marketing Manager, and with input from the CEO and Wordfest’s external consultants, the intern will assist the organization with the redevelopment of Wordfest’s online interface with patrons, donors and stakeholders in the following capacity: Participate in the redesign of Wordfest’s Information Architecture (IA), implementing recommendations from external consultants and senior staff. Assist with configuration and back-end coding of any new templates, apps, APIs and widgets recommended for Wordfest’s online platforms, including the website, social media and ticketing infrastructure. Assist with back-end customization of Wordfest’s relational databases (e.g. Filemaker), and configuration of any new customer relationship management (CRM) software products introduced during the work term. Remain fully informed on sector trends, best practices and current research on digital content management. Qualifications University or college student in one of the following areas: computer science; or related field in information, communication technology (ICT), ideally in their third year of study. The candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications: Advanced knowledge of content management systems and familiarity with advanced customization of platforms such as WordPress. Strong knowledge of HTML5 / CSS, Google Analytics, SEO and W3C best practices. Knowledge of PHP, Java and other scripts an asset. Knowledge of APIs and database integration concepts is considered an asset. Some graphic design acumen would be a bonus, but not a requirement. Some familiarity with e-commerce platforms is considered an asset. Data entry is a work requirement, and the ability to develop and execute a content entry plan is a desired. Supervision This position is under the direct supervision of the Marketing and Communications Manager. The Digital Content Manager receives ongoing training, feedback and performance reviews. Contract Term: Monday, May 7 – Friday, August 31, 2018 (subject to change) Salary: $15/hr @ 40 hours/week There is a possibility of part-time work in the months of September and October 2018.
