Bookkeeper/ Administrative Assistant

Established in 1991 under the Societies Act of Alberta, WP Puppet Theatre (WPTS) seeks to spark curiosity; provide understanding about the world we live in; examine the issues of our time; consider solutions and inspire our audiences to become active, ethical and involved citizens through puppetry.

We provide a broad range of programming including learning opportunities and performances. All our work is originally produced and spearheaded by Founder and Artistic Director, Wendy Passmore-Godfrey. We are looking to add a detailed oriented bookkeeper/administrative assistant to the team!

Hours: Five to 10 hours per week. Work from home, occasional evenings may be required for meetings.
Compensation: $20 to $25/hr depending on experience.

Ideal Candidate

You are a highly organized person with a strong attention to detail who doesn’t mind learning on the fly!
You are independent and able to prioritize your tasks with little supervision. You enjoy working from home and appreciate a flexible work environment. You are friendly, collaborative, able to share ideas and opinions. Your values align with WPTS’ and you have an interest in performing arts. This is a new position and there may be opportunities to grow with us and customize aspects of the role to your unique skill set!

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Bookkeeping utilizing QuickBooks Online Plus.
  • Entering data, budget amounts, preparing cash flow projections and financial statements.
  • Reconciling bank statements, create and follow up with invoicing.
  • Complete monthly payroll prepares and files source deductions, T4s.
  • Complete and file charitable return, GST return as well as submit WCB payments.
  • Send out workshop/performance contracts and pre-show information.
  • Create donation receipts and sponsorship agreements.
  • Scheduling, book space and organize meetings.
  • Use QuickBooks Online and Excel to prepare reports, and other documents.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with QuickBooks, preferably with QuickBooks Online.
  • Previous experience working in an administrative capacity preferred.
  • Experience with Data Entry, Spreadsheets, and data manipulation required.
  • Intermediate to an advanced user of Excel.
  • Intermediate user of the MS Office Suite, strong experience with web-based programs and applications.
  • Ability to research and find information with a high level of accuracy.
  • Related education diploma or degree preferred. Combination of education and experience will be considered.

Other:

  • Must have a valid license and access to a vehicle.
  • Must own a computer in good working condition.
