Volunteer Manager

Youth Singers of Calgary (YSC) is a performing arts company and educational program, providing an inclusive and engaged community that gives young people the opportunity to grow and express themselves through singing, dancing, acting, and performing. Operating year-round, YSC offers programming for ages 3.5 to adult in 15 different divisions and classes, produces two mainstage shows at the Jubilee Auditorium each year, and over 75 performances throughout the community.

YSC is powered by volunteers at all levels with participating member families forming the bulk of our volunteer force. Volunteers support the artistic staff and the performers, from chaperoning rehearsals and tours, to fitting wardrobe and building sets, to leading on parent councils, and supporting fundraising activities. Members also work bingos and casinos. All of this enables YSC to provide professional experiences for youth. Join the Youth Singers team to positively impact young people.

Culture at Youth Singers

By the very nature of being a not-for-profit performing arts organization, Youth Singers attracts a diverse, passionate, and wildly creative bunch of people—staff and participants. You will work with people from all walks of life and all ages. Amongst the staff, everyone wears many hats and supports one another. Administratively, expectations are high and sometimes resources are scarce so problem-solving skills and the ability to Google anything will come in handy. At the same time, there is 35 years of institutional knowledge available to you, so you must not be afraid to ask questions of your team.

We create original productions and perform on professional stages. We have a highly credentialed artistic leadership team and mentorship at all levels is an important part of our culture.

We feel the same way about our volunteers. They are valued and included; volunteer leadership is fostered and very much a part of our success. We want volunteers to find friendship, and fulfillment in their work.

For our families, we foster an inclusive environment and build citizens. We create professional-quality performance opportunities, but consider it our purpose to help everyone reach their potential no matter their starting point.
