YYC Music Awards

2021 Submissions now Open

Showcasing and honoring the incredible musical talent produced in the Calgary area for the last five years, the YYC Music Awards is proud to announce artist submissions for its sixth annual gala being hosted on September 26, 2021.

Event details will be released later in the spring as we continue to monitor COVID-19 restrictions.

Submissions open as of March 1 until May 31, 2021.

Celebrating the award gala’s sixth anniversary, the 2021 YYC Music Awards will celebrate artists and industry professionals in 25 categories.

Realizing that 2020 was a difficult year for our industry with many COVID restrictions limiting access to recording studios, we have made an adjustment to eligibility dates for the recording categories. For the 2021 YYC Music Awards, we are accepting recorded material with a release date between March 1, 2019 and February 28, 2021. Previously nominated works are not eligible.

Eligibility dates for the artistic and industry category awards are between March 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021.

Recognizing our valued partnership with The Prophets of Music Society, who has graciously sponsored the Zackariah and The Prophets Emerging Artist Award since our inaugural year, we have renamed that award the Prophets of Music Emerging Artist Award.

Last year’s event toasted 23 award categories and witnessed highlights such as duel awards for Troy Kokol (Music Video of the Year and Songwriter of the Year), and presenting the first ever Venue/Presenter of the Year Award to JazzYYC and Recording Studio of the Year award to Ian Dillon.

Artists interested in submitting their works for the 2021 YYC Music Awards can apply by visiting yycmusicawards.com/apply.
