Simon MacLeod

Simon MacLeod is a versatile member of the Calgary arts scene, contributing talents on saxophone as a sought after performing and teaching artist. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Calgary, and has spent time studying with Eugene Rousseau, Fred Hemke, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, and Jean-Michel Goury. MacLeod has focused on his enthusiasm for contemporary & new music and is eager to collaborate with artists in other creative mediums. MacLeod has found himself in unique performances including sharing a stage with the Oasis Saxophone Quartet, playing seductive melodies with local folk-rock bands in outdoor marketplaces, communicating with a Japanese shamisen player using improvised melodies, and telling some of Aesop’s fables using his instrument and body. In his other life, MacLeod is an alumni of the Rozsa Foundation Arts Management programs, the devoted Community Development Coordinator for CJSW 90.9 FM, and the proud President of New Works Calgary.
