Two tributes from eight notable improv troupes take the stage in this no-holds-barred battle. Hosted by Calgary’s own Obviously Improv, this night of comedy takes a page from The Hunger Games.

Facing trials, tribulations, and interesting restrictions or advantages based on whether or not they meet the audience’s approval, performers compete for your laughter. With Toronto’s hip hop improv group Notorious returns to defend its title, the audience can sponsor favourite teams, bestowing unique benefits for the next scene.

“The buzz at this interactive tournament-style event is incredible,” says Laura Tennisco, in a statement. “We’re fortunate to have sold out the show every year.”

The show also boasts an equal number of male and female performers. As the co-founder of the Calgary Improv School, Tennisco offers a few classes just for women and is passionate about creating opportunities.

Arrive early for hors d’oeuvres, photo booth fun, and access to an airbrush makeup artist for that Capitol look.

The 2018 Improv Games take place at 8:00pm on March 10, 2018 at Festival Hall (1215 10th Ave. SE). Doors open at 7:00pm. 18+ only.
