They have never seen By Heart and they have no idea which text they will learn. Over the course of the show, Rodrigues teaches the poem to be recited “by heart” while unfolding an unexpected mix of interconnected stories. In the end, the poem is given a safe hiding place in the audience’s mind, guaranteeing its survival even in the face of desolate times. By Heart runs January 24 to 26, 2017 at the Big Secret Theatre, Arts Commons (225 8th Ave SE) and is part of the High Performance Rodeo, running January 5 to February 2, 2017.
