Back with its Canadian focused fall festival, join JazzYYC for a lineup of exciting collaborations and all-ages events including a free jazz walk.

Bringing some of Canada’s brightest jazz stars to Calgary for a celebration of music, the festival includes a Canadian Mainstage Series Thursday to Sunday at the Ironwood Stage & Grill as well as the Wild Rose Late Night Series at Lolita’s Lounge. You can even dance the night away at its special Remembrance Day concert with international jazz star Evan Arntzen.

With a such great lineup, it can be hard to choose. Here are our not-to-be-missed picks for this year’s festival:

Double Bill with The North & Steve Amirault

A special double bill that is a must for piano lovers, catch international award-winning pianist/vocalist Steve Amirault performing a special solo set. And for the second half of the evening, catch all-star Canadian/Scandinavian quartet The North, featuring David Braid on piano and Mike Murley on sax.

Kawa Jazz Jam with Jon McCaslin Quartet

One of Calgary’s top drummers, bring your instrument and join in with Jon McCaslin. Kawa’s Saturday afternoon jam session is open to all ages and levels of experience.

Swing Night with Evan Arntzen & Top Cat Swing Calgary

With a powerful tone on clarinet and saxophone as well as a charismatic singing voice, Vancouver born/NYC-based Evan Arntzen is a natural musician steeped in the history of jazz. Join him for this high-energy tribute to the swing era that includes free dance lessons and demonstrations from members of Calgary’s Top Cat Swing.

Throughout Inglewood & the Music Mile

Presented by TD and Inglewood BIA, this free, family-friendly event takes participants to various venues throughout Inglewood and the Music Mile. A guided tour of all the afternoon’s music with ArtWalk With Art, venues include Ironwood Stage & Grill, Art on 9th, Kent of Inglewood, and the Cold Garden Beverage Company.

Festival Wrap-up Party with Sinistrio
