Movies That Matter Presents The Pearl

Join Jessica Gimmick and Christopher Lamarca for a screening and Q&A of their film The Pearl. This documentary explores the raw emotional and physical experience of being a middle aged to senior transgender woman against the backdrop of post-industrial logging towns in the Pacific Northwest.

AiR Workshop: Quinsin Nachoff

Composer and saxophonist Quinsin Nachoff makes a presentation about his time as Artist in Residence at Studio Bell, home of the National Music Centre (NMC). Nachoff has been working alongside recording engineer and audio guru David Travers-Smith. Hear him play selections from his latest record, Flux, and discuss some of his methods for composing while addressing the use, inspiration, and integration of NMC’s collection into new works.

Who’s up for some spooky fun? Wear your costumes and come out to this free family-friendly concert presented by Calgary Society of Organists and Royal Canadian College of Organists. Prepare yourself for some creepy bumps, bangs, and a few uninvited guests. You can even join the decomposing musicians for this musical variety show featuring the pipe organ.
