The dead tell their side of the story in this wildly dramatic re-imagining of an ancient Greek tale brought to you by Canada’s masters of puppetry for adults, Calgary’s own Old Trout Puppet Workshop.

Hot off its one-night-only world premiere at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, this musical spectacle promises to be unlike anything you’ve seen before.

Sharing the story about a philosopher who buys a house where all of the previous inhabitants have been driven to death or madness by the ghost of the original owner, this subversive adaptation explores mortality and life after death.

Ghost Opera brings together the Trouts, composer Veronika Krausas, Giller Prize winning novelist André Alexis, and Calgary Opera for a not-to-be-missed production.

The Old Trouts’ second opera, this collaboration with Calgary Opera continues to extend what audiences think of as opera. In fact, it’s a whole other scale of storytelling. Featuring a cast of 28 performers, the show incorporates puppetry and incredible music to tell a visually stunning and macabre tale.

Ghost Opera runs May 29 to June 8, 2019 at The GRAND (608 1st St. SW).
