Hidden Gems screens Vishal Bhardwaj’s Shakespearean trilogy

Starting 2019 with a bang, join Hidden Gems Film Society as it screens three films based on Shakespeare tragedies—Maqbool (Macbeth), Omkara (Othello), and Haider (Hamlet).

Continuing its Indian Auteur Series, Hidden Gems casts a light on the work of Vishal Bhardwaj. Besides directing, his talents include screenwriting, music composition, and playback singing. He has received international acclaim and his films are known around the world as cult classics.

Kicking off on January 27 with Maqbool (Macbeth), the series continues with screenings of Omkara (Othello) on February 24 and Haider (Hamlet) on March 31.

In addition to the Shakespearean trilogy, Hidden Gems is also screening Bhardwaj’s Blue Umbrella on April 28.

Indian Auteur Series: Vishal Bhardwaj runs January 27 to April 28, 2019 at the Alberta University of the Arts (1407 14th Ave. NW). Each screening takes place on the last Sunday of the month and starts at 2:00pm.
