Love—beautiful, musical, complicated—join Morpheus Theatre as it closes its season with Gilbert & Sullivan’s comedic operetta Iolanthe.

Although forbidden by fairy law, Iolanthe marries a mortal. Banished from fairyland, her son Strephon falls in love with Phyllis, who is, of course, desired by all the members of the House of Peers. But when Phyllis sees Strephon embrace the ethereal and lovely Iolanthe, she doesn’t consider she might be his mother and sets in motion a musical clash between politicians and fairies. The seventh of 14 collaborations by W.S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan, don’t miss this energetic and satirical journey.

Iolanthe runs April 28 to May 13, 2017 at Pumphouse Theatres (2140 Pumphouse Ave. SW).
