Beware the Jabberwock might be the frantic warning from Lewis Carroll’s nonsensical poem, but what happens when the Old Trouts take up the vorpal sword to valiantly save us all? You’ll just have to check it out to see.

A new puppet extravaganza for adults from the strange and wondrous world of The Old Trout Puppet Workshop, the show comes to Calgary at the tail end of its first North American tour before heading to Europe. Jabberwocky combines an intricate form of two-dimensional puppetry inspired by toy theatres with Victorian-style shadowgraphy, physical performance, absurd costumes, and taxidermy marionettes for a visual feast of nightmarish pondering.

Jabberwocky runs February 21 to March 4, 2018 at the DJD Dance Centre (111 12th Ave. SE).
