Stemming from a new partnership between Morningside Music Bridge and the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, don’t miss Timothy Chooi as he interprets Mendelssohn’s immensely popular Violin Concerto.

Led by guest conductor Christoph König, Chooi is a distinguished alumnus from the world-class music program.

“Timothy is probably the most exciting Canadian violinist on the scene. He’s matured from being a child prodigy into an artist to be reckoned with. I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year than enjoying the most popular violin concerto ever written played by a musician of this caliber,” says Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s President and CEO Paul Dornian, in a statement.

The concert also features Haydn’s No. 99, one of the famed London Symphonies and Shostakovich’s upbeat Ninth Symphony.

Catch Mendelssohn, Haydn & Shostakovich at 8:00pm on January 20 & 21, 2017 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, Arts Commons (205 8th Ave. SE).
