Led by guest conductor Christoph König, Chooi is a distinguished alumnus from the world-class music program. “Timothy is probably the most exciting Canadian violinist on the scene. He’s matured from being a child prodigy into an artist to be reckoned with. I can’t think of a better way to start the New Year than enjoying the most popular violin concerto ever written played by a musician of this caliber,” says Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra’s President and CEO Paul Dornian, in a statement. The concert also features Haydn’s No. 99, one of the famed London Symphonies and Shostakovich’s upbeat Ninth Symphony.
