Full of innovative works and amazing examples of creativity, PARTICLE + WAVE Media Arts Festival returns for its sixth year with another stellar lineup.

Presented by EMMEDIA, this unique three-day festival celebrates the critical innovation and creativity present in the media arts community. An art form that by its very nature is always evolving, it highlights the integration of ever-changing technological processes.

This year’s festival includes screenings, installations, and live performances by local, national, and international artists so you won’t want to miss it!

PARTICLE + WAVE: Screening Program

January 30, 2020, 7:30 – 9:30pm
Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW)
$10 – $15

Featuring filmmakers that experiment with narratives, mediums, and perspectives, these works explore the intimate connection between personal relationships and foreign and familiar landscapes. There’s even a performance by Ghostkeeper with a live projection piece by local media artist Joe Kelly.

PARTICLE + WAVE: Group Exhibition

Showcasing Albertan artists that utilize television screens and monitors to question our current relationships with social media, this show looks at the feelings of solastalgia as we enter an unpredictable future. And, if you can’t make it to the opening this weekend, the exhibition runs until February 29, giving you plenty of time to check it out.

PARTICLE + WAVE: Feature Night

Be immersed in media arts with performances incorporating projections and soundscapes mixed live before your eyes or take part in an interactive gameshow where you are the audience. This evening features performances by Matthieu Hallé and Chris Dadge, Mat Lindenberg, Tasman Richardson, and a film installation by Dawn George.

Celebrate the last night of PARTICLE + WAVE and enjoy a live media art performance while mingling with the festival artists! Featuring performances by Notfortheireyes, Corinthian, and HomeSick, this party is not to be missed!
