Saskatoon violinist and Coax Records labelmate respectfulchild opens. Having released nine solo albums spanning the folk, indie rock, and electronic genres, Spoon was the subject and composer of the score for the National Film Board-produced musical-documentary My Prairie Home. Their new LP, bodiesofwater, comes out on the 20th anniversary of the first show Spoon ever played, and 10 years after the release of their break-out album superioryouareinferior. Due out September 7 on Spoon’s own Coax Records, bodiesofwater was co-produced by Montreal’s Laurie-Anne Torres and recorded with Torres, respectfulchild, and Terri Upton at The Noise Floor Recording Studio on Gabriola Island. Catch Rae Spoon with respectfulchild and guest, September 12 and 13, 2018 at the King Eddy (438 9th Ave. SE). Doors open at 7:00pm with the show at 8:00pm.
