Hear some of the best and brightest young musical talents Calgary has to offer as the Calgary Civic Symphony presents the winners for the 2017 Calgary Concerto Competition (C3).

With performances from 17-year-old violinist Angela Ryu, 14-year-old pianist Jessica Ma, 15-year-old cellist Joan Herget, and 13-year-old pianist Joshua Wong, you won’t want to miss this special concert.

Maestro Rolf Bertsch conducts the symphony with Berlioz’s ever-popular Carnaval Romain kicking off the program. Pieces selected by the young musicians are Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major, Op. 35, Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E Flat Major, Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E Minor, Op. 85, and Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1.

Don’t miss these Rising Stars at 2:30pm on April 2, 2017 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall, Arts Commons (205 8th Ave. SE). A pre-concert recital with the competition runners-up will take place in the lobby at 1:45pm.
