In 1997, Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers acquired a library of over 2,500 16mm films from the Calgary Public Library and regularly screen them for the public. But there’s a catch—each time the film is kept a secret until the credits roll.

Including cult classics, animations, shorts, and documentaries, once every month, a local Calgary curator is asked to choose a film to screen but due to copyright reasons, the title cannot be disclosed in advance. This month, NUTV’s Cameron Macgowan takes over curation. The University of Calgary’s campus-based television station, NUTV produces a variety of community television shows and is currently releasing new content on its YouTube channel every Friday.

The screening takes place at 8:00pm on August 17, 2017 at CSIF’s screening room (100, 1725 10th Ave. SW). Admission is by donation and space is limited, so make sure you reserve your spot at Tickets will be available at the door as well.
