In Performance: Claire Chase and Steven Schick

Kicking off Banff Centre’s Summer Classical Music Series, co-artistic directors Claire Chase and Steven Schick present an eclectic program of works for flute and percussion by Pauline Oliveros, Iannis Xenakis, Gustavo Aguilar, Marcos Balter, Mark Applebaum, and faculty composer Tyshawn Sorey. Members form the summer music faculty will also join the two for an informal conversation with the audience following the performance.

Kopernikus

A chamber opera by Montreal-born composer Claude Vivier, Kopernikus is unlike any opera that has ever been written. Vivier created a new sound by constantly seeking answers to the simple questions of where are you coming from and where are you going?
