Written by Michaela Jeffery, an up-and-coming Calgary playwright, don’t miss your chance to see this potent drama set at the turn of the next century.

On the fringes of a remote desert society, a group of teenage dissidents search for fragments of earlier civilizations still ricocheting between stars by using antiquated 21st century radio telescopes. Risking everything to connect to a past that has faded both from memory and record, The Listeners must choose to conform or to strike out and seize the future they want to inherit.

Part of Azimuth Theatre’s Alberta Emerging Company Showcase, the production comes from Cardiac Theatre with the support of Downstage Theatre and received great reviews for its sound design during its recent Edmonton run.

The Listening Room runs February 14 to 24, 2018 at the Motel Theatre, Arts Commons (2nd Floor, 225 8th Ave. SE).
