So popular it made its way around the world a year after its opening in 1926, join Calgary Opera as it stages Giacomo Puccini’s final work, Turandot.

In it we meet the cold-hearted Princess Turandot whose defiance becomes apparent as she sentences potential suitors to death if they can’t answer her three riddles. But, in true operatic fashion, she meets her match when confronted by the clever Prince Calaf who tries to melt her icy heart with a game of his own.

Recognized as the most tonally adventurous of Puccini’s operas, Turandot features the beautiful and famous aria, Nessun Dorma. Calgary Opera’s production stars Michele Capalbo as Turandot, David Pomeroy as Calaf, Mariateresa Magisano as Liu, Alexendre Sylvestre as Timur, and is conducted by Joseph Mechavich with stage direction by Brian Deedrick.

Turandot runs April 1, 5, and 7, 2017 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (1415 14th Ave. NW). Tickets start at $30 with student and senior pricing available.
