Reflecting the scale and spectacle that marked Queen’s live performances and earned the band its position in rock history, this touring production captures the immense energy and channels it into a heartfelt story.

After all, as the late Freddy Mercury once said, “Our concerts are not live renditions of our albums. They’re theatrical events.”

We Will Rock You is a quirky and eccentric story of outsiders, and a creative cautionary tale for the cyberage.

Since 2002, over 16 million theatregoers in 19 countries have been thrilled by this awe-inspiring production. Based on the songs of Queen along with an original story written by the incendiary satirist Ben Elton, don’t miss the Calgary stop on its North American tour.

The show features a talented ensemble cast of young professionals, who are all amazing singers, actors, and dancers, and a backing band that replicates Queen’s music to a tee.

Keri Kelly plays Scaramouche in her national tour debut and has been continuously making new discoveries onstage.

“I assumed it would be a challenge keeping things fresh when you are doing the same show every day—sometimes twice—but It truly never gets old,” she says. “First and foremost, it’s a comedy, however the show has quite a few layers that are relevant in today’s society.”

That includes the effect of social media on youth culture.

“It takes place in a world where individual thought and musical instruments are forbidden,” Kelly continues. “The story is intriguing on its own, but add in 24 of Queens greatest hits and you’ve got a musical and concert fused into one. It truly does speak to musical theatre lovers and Queen fans alike.”

And if you catch yourself getting caught up in the lyrics, that’s more than okay.

“We love audience participation! Please don’t ever hesitate to sing, dance and rock out with us,” she adds. “The most fun part of the show is when I get to interact with you!”

We Will Rock You runs December 27 to 29, 2019 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium (1415 14th Ave. NW).
