Get ready Calgary, the Sultans of String are set to raise the rafters with their genre-hopping Subcontinental Drift CD release concert at Fish Creek Concerts.

Part of the group’s 2017 JUNO nomination and 10th anniversary tour, the album is a feast of raucous reels, ragas ‘n’ rumbas featuring special guest, sitar master Anwar Khurshid.

“We are honoured to receive a JUNO nomination for our new CD! We could not have made this recording without the support of the whole Canadian roots community, and our special collaboration with Anwar,” says bandleader and violinist Chris McKhool, in a statement. “There is something magical about joining world music rhythms that we often play, but with pop sensibilities and forms and lengths, and blending that with the music of the East.”

Catch the Sultans of String at 7:30pm on April 7, 2017 at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Dr. SW).
