The grandson of the infamous mad scientist, Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced Fronk-en-steen) sets out to be a different kind of Doctor Frankenstein than those before him, but when he inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania, things don’t go exactly as planned.

Add in a hunchbacked sidekick named Igor (pronounced Eye-gore), and a leggy lab assistant named Inga (pronounced normally), Young Frankenstein is a madcap romp that stays true to the 1974 Mel Brooks film of the same name. It’s a good bet that if you liked the film, you’ll like the stage adaptation.

This musical comedy from the creators of The Producers, has a strong cast, who use the campy material to its full advantage but it’s Adam Stevenson who shines as The Monster. His performance in Puttin’ On the Ritz alone makes the show worth seeing.

Young Frankenstein runs until June 26, 2016 at Stage West Calgary (727 42nd Ave. SE). Tickets are available online at stagewestcalgary.com or by calling 403.243.6642.
