Arts Organizations
The 2025 Operating Grant Program provided stable, predictable funding to non-profit arts organizations in Calgary. Operating Grants are committed on a multi-year cycle, and may be directed to any area of an organization’s overall budget.

The 2025 Project Grant Program for Organizations provided one-time project funding to registered non-profit arts organizations in Calgary. Projects could include research, creation, development, production, presentation or dissemination of artistic work. Projects could also include experimentation or development of new or adapted approaches to the operations or the administration of the organization.

The Future Focus Program is a joint initiative of Calgary Arts Development, the Rozsa Foundation and the Calgary Foundation aimed at supporting Calgary-based arts organizations to investigate, plan and implement significant strategic adaptations in their operations. The goal of the program was to assist organizations in making strategic changes or decisions about their model, operations or focus that may inform how existing and future programs are developed and delivered. Through this program, organizations access funds to develop strategies and engage expertise to build their capacity and assist them in their journeys to navigate the questions, challenges and opportunities they face.
In 2025, the Rozsa Foundation took on the administration of the Future Focus Program on behalf of the funding partners Calgary Arts Development and the Calgary Foundation. The Canada Council for the Arts also contributed funds towards the program in 2025. Calgary Arts Development’s contribution to the Future Focus Program in 2025 was $255,550.
Individual Artists and Collectives
The 2025 Project Grant Program for Individuals and Collectives provided one-time project funding to Calgary-based individual artists, artist collectives and cultural workers, working in any artistic discipline. Projects could include research, creation, development, production, presentation or dissemination of artistic work, or the experimentation or development of new or adapted approaches to practice.

The 2025 Artist Development Microgrant provided one-time funding to Calgary-based individual artists, artist collectives and cultural workers, working in any discipline, to help support activities related to either professional and artistic skill development or business and career development. The goal of the program was to contribute to the skills and knowledge required to advance artists’ careers and develop artistic practices in Calgary, by investing in access to education, training and mentorship, marketing and promotion, building skills and networks, and developing entrepreneurship and business acumen.

First Nations, Métis, Inuit Artists & Organizations
The 2025 Original Peoples Investment Program provided one-time project funding to First Nation, Métis and Inuit (FNMI) individual artists, artist collectives and Indigenous-led and centred arts organizations practicing and operating in the Treaty 7 region. This program supported the development, preservation and revitalization of First Nations, Métis and Inuit art through art-based projects that are supported and validated by FNMI artists, community, Elders and Knowledge Keepers. We recognize and support both traditional and contemporary Indigenous artists and arts practices within this program. This program is developed and validated annually with the support of our Indigenous Advisory Committee.

Other Programs
The ArtShare Program has historically provided one-time project funding to individual artists, artist collectives and arts organizations in Calgary who self-identify as equity-deserving, or which are led by and serve equity-deserving communities. Calgary Arts Development program staff work one on one with applicants to develop grant proposals and funding amounts.
This program has been on pause while it undergoes a multi-phase evaluation and redesign process involving program staff and community members, however, in the 2025 grant year, we were able to support two (2) applications to a total of $44,949.

The Cultural Activation Fund supports projects that align with civic partner and City of Calgary strategies, priority areas and initiatives such as Downtown Revitalization, Chinook Blast and Rise UP, and the Creative Economy Strategy. cSpace’s annual operating grant is also funded through the Cultural Activation Fund.

The Changemakers Program invests in artists and organizations who are using their art to make change in their community and which use art for social change. Our partnership with the Institute of Community Prosperity on the Artist as Changemaker program is funded from the program. The intention of this program is to partner with the community to use art to create conversation and solutions to our communities’ most challenging problems. In 2025 this program was supplemented through the Calgary Arts Foundation by gifts from individual donors.
