Justin Beamish
My name is Justin Beamish. I am currently in my third year attending Alberta University of the Arts and have been working towards a bachelors’ in Fine Arts Degree with a major in painting. Over the last five years, I have been pursuing, learning and expanding in the field of contemporary public art. Through painting multiple murals in Parkland County, Edmonton, Calgary and more recently, my first international mural in Romania, I have been able to explore large scale works.
With large scale works, bright colours and uplifting subject matter, some of my goals are to steward community, collaborate with communities and other artists and inspire joy. The mural projects I have been blessed to design, paint and lead over the years have been tremendous opportunities to explore the growing world of public art, and at the same time make meaningful friendships.
As of late, I have been experimenting with visual spatial-dislocation by creating collages from snowboard/skateboarding magazines and brutalist architecture imagery.
