Original Peoples Investment Program

Calgary Arts Development is partnering with the Canada Council for the Arts to present information sessions about upcoming grant programs for Indigenous arts.

As we can’t gather in person at a Community Circle this year, we want to create the opportunity to gather in different ways. We are offering one session for any First Nations, Métis, and Inuit artist, arts collective or organization operating in the Calgary or Treaty 7 region.

Program guidelines for Calgary Arts Development’s Original Peoples Investment Program are available here, and the applications open on March 15, 2021. Information about the Canada Council for the Arts programs for Indigenous arts can be found at canadacouncil.ca.

We are also offering specific sessions for artists and organizations from each Treaty 7 Nation. These specific community gatherings are intended to create support networks that respect the unique traditions and cultural context of each Treaty 7 Nation.

The presentations about the grant programs will be the same at each information session. If you are unable to attend a session, our first presentation on February 24 will be recorded and posted on the Original Peoples Investment Program page by mid-March.

All sessions will be presented on Zoom. You must register for a session to get access to the link. You do not need to have your camera on in order to participate. There will be a question and answer period after each presentation, which will not be recorded to respect the privacy of participants. You will have the opportunity to ask questions directly of the presenters verbally, or by typing into a chat box.

If you have any questions about how to use Zoom, please contact grants@calgaryartsdevelopment.com before registering for the session. You do not require a Zoom account in order to participate.

If you require American Sign Language interpretation, or any other service that will allow you to access these sessions, please contact sable.sweetgrass@calgaryartsdevelopment.com no later than one week prior to the session you would like to attend.
