June 1, 2020 Project Grant Program – Individuals and Collectives Applications are now open for the Project Grant Program – Individuals and Collectives. Be sure to submit your application via the online grant interface before 4:30pm MDT on July 27, 2020. This program is intended to provide one-time project funding to individual artists and artistic collectives in Calgary working in any artistic discipline who pursue a professional practice. This program supports projects that strengthen our artistic communities and ensures that citizens of Calgary (known as Mohkinstsis in Blackfoot) can experience what they have to offer. Be sure to review the guidelines and supporting documents before starting your application. Based on a combination of program evaluation undertaken between January and March of 2020 through internal evaluation, public surveys, and feedback sessions, along with consideration for the current circumstances surrounding the pandemic, we have adapted this year’s Project Grant Program guidelines and process. Key program changes are: The program will be assessed in one phase this year, as opposed to the two phase process adapted in previous years. This decision was made in order to get funding out more quickly in 2020, since the program was delayed by two months. The total pool of funding available was reduced to $750,000 from $850,000 as $100,000 was reallocated to short-term relief funding for individual artists. The maximum request amount was reduced to $10,000 from $15,000 as there is such significant need in the sector at this time and we would like to see more artists supported through the program. Please note that Calgary Arts Development staff are continuing to work remotely.
