Create Kids Fest is recruiting board volunteers responsible for the governance of the organization, planning and executing activities throughout the year, strategic planning, financial oversight and policy development.
About Create Kids Fest
Create Kids Fest hosted its inaugural festival in 2019, presenting over 20 artists and art organizations, across 2 venues to the Calgary Community. Family friendly, fuss-friendly, accessible and multi-generational, the initial success of the festival sparked the creation of a non-profit society governed by a volunteer Board to expand our reach into the Calgary community and beyond.
Create Kids Fest produces events big and small throughout the year featuring music, dance, storytelling, and theatre. These events are geared towards engaging young children and their families in multidisciplinary and interactive art experiences facilitated by Calgary professional artists.
As an organization we have remained nimble and responsive, adapting readily to the needs and interests of our community. Working quickly is an asset. We are always looking to pair with new venues, artists, funding opportunities and love new ideas. A natural curiosity and creativity is welcomed!
Create Values:
- To create, develop and implement arts festivals for kids and families in Calgary.
- To ensure that the festivals and programs put on by Create allow children to experience the arts in a comfortable environment.

- To provide educational experiences for younger generations to learn about event production and art creation to develop a life-long appreciation of the arts.
- Develop opportunities for intergenerational community building, cultural awareness and emotional intelligence through art experiences.
Open Positions
Director of Fundraising: Work with the artistic director to find and connect with funding opportunities, collaborate on grant writing and amplify donation messaging.
Director of Marketing: Create and implement event marketing strategies, develop content, monitor communications and keep the social media and email newsletter accounts for Create Kids Fest engaging and relevant to Calgary and area families.
Create Kids Fest is an exciting organization with a unique approach to intergenerational programming. This is a great position for a volunteer with a young family wanting more community interaction. This is also a great position for a children’s artist or those interested in working with children to gain hands on experience in event planning and programming for young people. As a small team every action our Board Members take impacts the organisation greatly! You’ll definitely feel valued!
Board members are expected to attend a monthly board meeting, approximately 1 hour long, in addition to 2 to 7 hours per month volunteering for Create Kids Fest.
