Have you ever watched a play and yearned to see your own words come to life on-stage? Take your first step into the world of playwriting with this workshop for beginners! Each week of this four-week course with writer Tereasa Maillie will explore a different aspect of playwriting, from creating characters and conflict to communicating stage directions and formatting. By the end of the course, you’ll have all the tools you need to write your own play from start-to-finish!

What You’ll Learn:

  • The different types of stages and the differences between writing for stage and film.
  • How to build compelling characters and create engaging conflict.
  • Different play structures and which to use for your play.
  • How to use dialogue to make characters distinct and memorable.
  • How to format a play correctly.
  • What to do next after you’d finished writing your play.

Each session lasts two-hours, so come prepared with your writing utensils and creative ideas!
