Portrait Artist Needed
For Arch Awards Recipients

The University of Calgary is seeking talented portrait artists to create a series of portraits for the upcoming UCalgary Arch Awards. As part of this esteemed event, we aim to commission portraits of five to eight recipients who exemplify excellence in their respective fields.
Details and Requirements
- Accurate and flattering likenesses of the recipients are essential, while we encourage the artist’s unique style to shine through.
- Artists may choose to work in either digital or traditional mediums.
- Minimum final dimensions for the portraits are 8” x 10” @ 300 dpi.
- The portraits will be utilized in both digital and print promotional materials for the event, as well as displayed on screens during the ceremony.
- Artwork may be cropped or expanded as necessary for promotional assets.
- Reference photos will be provided by the client, though the number and quality may vary.
- Award winners will be announced by May 31, 2024, with reference photos typically provided within two weeks thereafter.
- Approved sketches are required by June 17, 2024, with final artwork due by July 15, 2024.
- A framed original or reproduction will be provided to each recipient as a gift, with frames and print reproductions supplied as needed.
- The budget for this project is approximately $5,000, contingent upon the number of recipients.
- Artists are requested to provide a per-portrait quote.
Submission Requirements:
- Please include samples of your previous work, showcasing the style of portrait you would create for this project.
- Confirm your availability to meet the outlined timelines.
