Summer Marketing Intern

RedPoint Media Group is seeking a marketing intern for a four-month term from mid-May 2024 to the end of August, 2024. This full-time contract position is an opportunity to work with award-winning publications, gain invaluable experience in the magazine/marketing industry, expand your network of contacts and develop your skills through on-the-job training.
RedPoint Media Group Inc., Avenue’s parent company, is an award-winning publishing house and content-driven marketing studio in Calgary. You’ll be joining the team that creates our in-house brand Avenue, an award-winning city lifestyle magazine. RedPoint also publishes The Scene, a monthly entertainment guide to the city, and creates custom publications for clients including the Calgary Foundation, the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Calgary Arts Development and others.

RedPoint Media has a hybrid office setup offering employees the opportunity to work from home or from the co-working space at CSpace Marda Loop. Some face-to-face meetings as well as event attendance may be necessary.
Our opportunity
This internship is a full-time, four-month contract position. The salary is based on a 40-hour work week at minimum wage ($15/hour).
This is an opportunity to:
- Employ a holistic approach throughout all marketing activities.
- Assist with ad creation/placements/bookings within all print publications and online tools.
- Maintain the inventory of all in-house promotional ads, both in print and online.
- Maintain the inventory of all marketing and promotional material.
- Write promotional emails and eblasts.
- Assist with event coordination, planning and execution of events such as Top 40 Under 40, Client Christmas Party, etc.
- Track and compiling all event collateral.
- Maintain database for various memberships, groups, invitations, etc.
- Assist with general administration of the Marketing Department such as printing, filing, supply orders, mailings, etc.
- Assist with research as necessary.
- Monitor contests and prize tracking.
- Maintain meticulous files, spreadsheets and various materials associated with marketing.
Our ideal candidate
Your skills, knowledge and know-how:
- Great communication skills.
- Very organized, with exceptional time-management skills.
- Knowledge of MailChimp or Flodesk
- Ability to learn new software easily
- Experience working with ClickUp is an asset.
- Currently enrolled in a marketing or communications program program at a post-secondary institution.
- Curious about everything with an ability to think of ideas for a variety of audience.
- Proficient in the use of social media.
- Basic knowledge of marketing principles and industry trends.
Due to funding requirements, applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary program at an accredited institution. Applicants must be under the age of thirty.
