Mohar Gupta
Mohar Gupta is textile designer and visual artist from India. After graduating in textile design and development from National Institute Of Fashion Technology, she started working in automated jacquard weaving silk industry. After some time she join an apparel export company, where she started making collection for embroidery design for Europe.
In 2007 Gupta moved to Melbourne with her family. There she was volunteer with Sangham Indo Australian Design Group, and Weavers Guild of Victoria and made a collection of felt bags and bridal brooches. In 2014, she moved to Calgary, she was struggling with her textile career, but her passion for art never died. She started teaching art to immigrant children in her community. She is passionate about her students and arranged an art exhibition to encourage those creative kids.2017 she was selected for the exhibition in Premier Rachel Notley’s office called Art From Unknown. That was the beginning of her journey in Calgary as a visual artist.
Her style of art is to create different textures with all sorts of materials and different types of paints. Her inspiration starts from nature and abstract form. She do not restrict herself in specific style. She explore with alcohol ink, water color, acrylic paints. She loves experimenting with her work.Bright and bold colours are key ingredients of her art. She loves teaching art and painting that brings her joy and happiness in life. Living a creative life is her main goal.
She has also done volunteer work for Calgary Bridge Foundation, Immigrant Services Calgary and City of Calgary to improve immigrants life in art sector.
