Principal Accompanist
Calgary Boys’ Choir
Compensation: $50 – $60/hour, commensurate with experience

For fifty years, the Calgary Boys’ Choir has been delivering dynamic, engaging, high-quality choral instruction, performance opportunities and formative experiences designed for boys.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the artistic director, the principal accompanist’s primary duties will be to:
- Accompany all rehearsals from September – May
- Participate in choral workshops (2 over the course of the season)
- Prepare and accompany 2 main stage and 2 community-based concerts per season
- Participate in two camps per season (November/February) as outlined in the season calendar
- Extra possible mutually agreed upon rehearsals/concerts based on availability
Additional duties:
- Work together with and coordinate repertoire programming with the artistic director
- Assist/conduct rehearsals and performances with the other Calgary Boys’ Choir ensembles, as required
- Attend all classes and any extra mutually agreed upon events as outlined in the season calendar
- Participate in fundraising events and other administrative duties as required
- Communicate regularly and openly with the artistic and administrative staff, keeping abreast of all information as outlined in choir memos
- Attend all artistic meetings and occasional board meetings
- Other duties may be requested by the artistic director and will be discussed as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency on both piano and organ
- Undergraduate degree in music performance
- Music education an asset
- Conducting/teaching experience an asset
- Other instrumental experience an asset
- Excellent theory and musicianship skills
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Positive and enthusiastic attitude
