The Coming Out Monologues
Calgary Queer Arts Society
Submissions open until: July 19, 2024
The Coming Out Monologues returns for another year, and you’re invited!
Thanks to presenting partner RBC, Calgary Queer Arts and Reckless Daughter Creative are seeking Queer narratives spanning the entire 2SLGBTQIA+ spectrum.
The Coming Out Monologues has been a cornerstone of the local cultural fabric for over a decade. Discover and share heartwarming, challenging, sometimes-painful and often hilarious stories of coming out, surrounded by chosen family in an intimate theatrical setting.
Participation in The Coming Out Monologues cohort includes attending a series of workshops led by Reckless Daughter Creative and Calgary’s 7th Poet Laureate, Shone Thistle. Workshops include learning the basics of storytelling on stage, a body in space workshop, fundamentals of voice, the power of play, storytelling and monologue development.
Ready to join a community of like-minded storytellers, hone your skills, and find your voice on stage? Know someone who’d be the perfect fit for this year’s presentation?
Not only will storytellers benefit from the community of support and skill building workshops, you will also get two new headshots and receive an honorarium for your final presentation.
