Have you ever been curious about art auctions and how they work? We are here to help!
After 30+ years of being in the business, LEVIS Art Auctions knows a thing [or maybe even two] about what it means to be an art auction house in Canada.
To start, we’ll talk about why art auctions even exist. Why are we a necessary part of the market and who uses our services? Other topics we’ll explore are the differences between auction houses and galleries, the shift to online vs. live auctions, and the Canadian art market in general. We’ll also cover what we do as an auction house, including the process of consigning and buying artwork. And we’ll dig into the classic question: Is artwork a good investment?
Art auctions are often portrayed by Hollywood as intimidating and pretentious affairs. We’ll take a good look at what goes on behind the hype and glamour and show you instead that auctions make it possible to purchase wonderful original artwork at every price point with confidence and ease.
