Public Art Discussion with Karen Tam & Henry Heng Lu

Join us for an engaging conversation with artist Karen Tam on November 19, 2024, as she shares insights into her public art project, Agnes Street Park, currently underway in New Westminster, British Columbia. This new park, located at 824 Agnes Street — the former site of the Chinese Benevolent Association (CBA) — stands in a neighbourhood recognized as New Westminster’s second Chinatown. Agnes Street Park will honour and pay tribute to the municipality’s early Chinese Canadian community as part of an ongoing reconciliation process.

This discussion will also feature Henry Heng Lu, with Ciara McKeown moderating the conversation.

This event is supported by Calgary Arts Development and is open to all interested in the intersections of art, culture and community engagement.

Date: November 19, 2024
Time: 6 – 7:30pm
Location: Stanford Perrot Lecture Theatre, Alberta University of the Arts (AUArts), 1407 14 Ave. NW

More information on Karen Tam’s upcoming talk can be found here.
