Directors and Dramaturgs Call
Incendiary Festival
Deadline to submit: December 15, 2025.
Ever wanted to work with Incendiary? Direct something? Now’s your chance!
Incendiary Playwrights Initiative – Director/Dramaturg call
Incendiary Festival is seeking a team of directors and dramaturgs for a series of new works starting in February 2025.
We have a whole host of incredible new works looking for passionate creatives to lead them in staged readings. Are you interested in site-specific theatre? Immersive exploration? Movement-based storytelling? Traditional scripts that push traditional storytelling boundaries? There’s something for every kind of theatre-maker.
The Initiative
The goal of this project is to give playwrights, actors, directors, and dramaturgs a chance to grow their skills, try something new, and make connections without the pressure or time commitment of a full production. We also want to connect with directors and dramaturgs who share our values and connect with our process for potential work on our full-scale projects in the future.
Throughout the season, we will be producing eleven readings of new works by Albertan playwrights. Each project is unique and focuses on experimenting with different storytelling styles. Depending on the show, preparations for the reading will include anywhere from two to five rehearsal dates, culminating in a performance to remember.
Whether you’ve always wanted to try your hand at directing but never have, or are looking for the perfect bite-sized project to fill out your packed directing schedule, this is an opportunity to try something new and connect with other creatives.
Submission Deadline
Please email your resume and a brief cover letter describing the kinds of projects you’re interested in directing or dramaturgy to incendiaryfestival@outlook.com by December 15, 2025. We’ll set up a meeting with you to find out about your creative process and see if you would be a good fit for this project or any future projects!
Compensation
Incendiary Festival operates under a profit-share model. This means we can not guarantee compensation, as the profit is never guaranteed. However, we do everything we can to ensure our projects fit around your other commitments and are rewarding in other way.
About Incendiary
