Now Touring: Public Art Billboards

Billboards showcase works from Calgary's public art collection

A print by Terry Gregoraschuk titled On the Run features a grid of colourful, speckled rectangles with one white silhouette of a running coyote breaking through the pattern. The almost white background the original artwork is displayed on sits on a dark blue/green background.

The Program

Now Touring: Public Art Billboards shines a spotlight on artwork from Calgary’s Public Art Collection by making it part of people’s daily commutes. This program started in December 2023 and features images of artworks on billboards across the city. For each series, different works from the City of Calgary Public Art Collection are selected by a local curator. The majority of these works are currently in storage and not on display to the public. Many of the billboards are located in parts of the city that are not home to permanent public art installations.

To showcase all the selected artworks, each billboard cycles through the full set of images over the course of the six-month exhibition. This means the image on a particular billboard may change throughout the exhibition period, allowing for more artworks to be featured at each site.
