Are you an immigrant, newcomer, or third-culture youth who loves the arts?
Third Culture Futures is a fully funded interdisciplinary arts residency in Calgary designed to support young people in exploring identity, culture, and creative expression. Through workshops, mentorship and a two-night retreat, participants will create meaningful relationships with other youth artists and mentors, and develop an original solo and collaborative pieces to present at a public showcase.
Program Highlights:
- 2-Night Retreat: March 25 – 27, 2026 at Rivers Edge Camp & Retreat Centre
- Workshops in movement, poetry, visual arts and storytelling
- Mentorship from emerging and professional artists
- 1 – 2 follow-up sessions to refine your pieces
Final Showcase: April 19, 2026 at the Calgary Public Library (Patricia A. Whelan Hall).
Who Can Apply
- Youth ages 14 – 18
- Newcomer, immigrant, or third-culture background (youth who are the children of immigrants)
- No previous arts experience required — all creative levels welcome
