Volunteer Coordinator

Femme Wave is looking for a volunteer coordinator to recruit and manage volunteers for our 2020 festival. The selected participant will have experience in organizing and inspiring teams and will assist us in supporting Femme Wave volunteers to adopt our mission and values to create a supportive, inclusive and fun festival this year and into the future.
Role Description
Working with the executive director and resource director, the volunteer coordinator will be able to take direction and lead the recruitment, organization, training, and recognition of volunteers. The successful candidate should have a general understanding of festival settings and the varied roles of volunteers in making festivals successful. Femme Wave operates at a fast pace, so the ideal volunteer coordinator will be able to hit the ground running with support from our team. You are excited to inspire and motivate volunteers to make Femme Wave 2020 the best festival yet!
Responsibilities
- Lead planning for recruiting, organizing, and training volunteers.
- Support social media coordinator and website coordinator with information to source and recruit volunteers.
- Collect information on volunteers availabilities and skills.
- Arrange for general training and safer spaces training, working with the safer spaces coordinator.
- Produce schedules and assign responsibilities for festival events.
- Communicate frequently with volunteers to ensure they are satisfied and well-placed.
- Disseminate information for upcoming training and events.
- Keep detailed records of volunteers’ information and assignments.
- Εnsure the purpose of the organization and its actions is clearly communicated.
- Plan volunteer recognition and celebration.
Requirements:
- Experience in volunteering locally.
- Experience in recruiting through various channels.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Google Suite.
- Excellent organizational and team coordination abilities.
- Sensitivity and awareness to the diversity within Femme Wave, as well as to the Femme Wave audience.
- Experience with festivals, arts organizations, and non-profit organizations is an asset.
The volunteer coordinator will work from August 15 to December 15 2020, with the possibility of extension, if interested. Time commitments will vary and increase into October and November when the festival takes place but will average five to 10 hours per week. Hours are flexible and will vary, with the majority of work being done remotely. A small honorarium will be paid to the volunteer coordinator upon successful completion of their duties.

Femme Wave is a feminist arts festival. The festival takes place annually in November across multiple inner-city venues and has enjoyed considerable growth since its inception. Founded in 2015, it is a collective-run organization with board and committee members of diverse and varying backgrounds.
