Complete the 2020 Calgary Arts Professionals Survey
IMPORTANT UPDATE The survey deadline has been extended one week to October 16 to try to ensure as much community representation as possible. The survey will be more successful the more people that complete it so please share it with your networks.
What’s it like to be an artist, arts professional or arts educator in Calgary? Do you want to help inform future arts development activities in Calgary? Add your voice by completing the 2020 Arts Professionals Survey. Your participation ensures a more complete and accurate picture of how Calgary fares as a city for those who work in the arts. And you could also win a $400 gift card.
The first Calgary Arts Professionals Survey was released in 2014 and provided a series of insights into the lives of artists, arts administrators, and arts educators. It was updated in a 2017 edition of the survey.
The 2020 survey again asks arts professionals about issues related to their career path, access to space and resources, health and wellness, housing, and perceptions of Calgary as well as how COVID-19 has impacted the lives of these arts professionals. The 20-minute anonymous survey provides critical information about those working in the arts sector. Survey results will be used to help inform future arts development activities in Calgary.
We Need Your Help
The survey will be more successful the more people that complete it. Helping share the survey will ensure the most accurate picture of the arts professional ecosystem is captured. Possible ways of helping to let people know about the survey include:
- Emailing artists you work with as well as your colleagues and peers about the survey.
- Providing information about the survey in your September newsletter, if you have one.
- Posting on social media about the survey, including Facebook and Twitter.

Results from the survey provide a great deal of insight about the participant’s lifestyle patterns, how art is made in Calgary, and how Calgary is faring as a place to live for people who work in the arts. A full report on the 2020 Calgary Arts Professionals Survey will be available in 2021.
Enter to Win
While the survey tool is completely anonymous, individuals completing the survey can opt to provide their email address at the end of the survey and will be entered to win one of five $400 gifts certificates to a retailer of their choice. Previous winners selected a gift certificate to the Chinook Centre and Amazon.
Survey Deadline
The survey opens September 15 and closes at 11:59pm on October 16, 2020—extended from October 9.
The 2020 Calgary Arts Professionals Survey will provide updated information on how those working in the sector are faring in these economic times, and how perceptions of Calgary have changed over the past three years.
