Content Writer

Disinformation Warriors needs writers to research and compose essays and other written forms that will communicate and educate youth on subject matter related to critically thinking about information that is found online, especially in relation to COVID-19.
Writers will receive a specific category related to scientific literacy and critical thinking.
They will research that topic and compose a piece of writing that will teach that topic to youth who are ages 13 to 17.
The completed version of these articles will be presented on our website. These articles will also be used to inform the delivery of the education and youth engagement components of this project.
Applicants should be passionate about thinking and writing about what makes information true and are enthusiastic about analyzing and validating evidence to criticize information that is being presented as truth.
Main Tasks for Content Writers
- Each writer will be hired to compose a single article (story, article, essay, piece of writing, etc.) that will be created based on an assigned category in relation to media and scientific literacy.
- A content writer will be responsible for researching the relevant subject matter with guidance from the project coordinators. They will be responsible for finding the relevant subject matter in relation to critically analyzing how we take in information online and especially in relation to COVID-19.
- Citations, sources and references will be necessary.
- Content writers will meet two or three times with the project team to collaborate on the ongoing development of the project.
Compensation
A fee of $800 per assignment will be given for the completion of writing (500 to 1,000 words) and includes participation in two to three project meetings. Revisions may be required in response to feedback from the education team.
Timeline
- Applications accepted until December 20, 2020.
- Successful applicants will be notified by December 28, 2020.
- Team meetings take place January 2 to 30, 2021.
- First Draft (presentation at team meeting): January 20, 2021
- Second Draft (for educators to use): January 25, 2021 (50% of contract)
- Articles will be used by educators to deliver education modules in February. Educators will provide feedback to content writers if writing needs modification for the intended audience.
- Final draft and all research and reference sources due February 28, 2021 (50% of contract).
- Payment is made at the end of the month, within two weeks of receipt of invoices.
